By default, Defender's protection level will allow PC
Anywhere to work as expected. The default protection level is
Cautious. At this level, no external connection from the outside
will be allowed into TCP ports 0-1023 and UDP ports 0-1023 of a
Defender host.
Note that a PC Anywhere host listens on TCP port 5631 and
UDP port 5632. UDP port 5632 is used by the controlling host to see
the status of a PC Anywhere host (i.e. the controlling PC checks UDP
port 5632 to check the status of a PC Anywhere host). TCP port 5631
is actually the port used to exchange screen, mouse, and keyboard
data.
PC Anywhere as a host on a Defender host
If you changed the protection to Nervous or Paranoid,
a controlling host will not be able to PC Anywhere-control the
host. At Paranoid protection level, a controlling
PC Anywhere host will not even detect the presence of the PC Anywhere
host.
PC Anywhere as a controlling host
At protection level of Nervous, your PC Anywhere remote controller
should be able to check the status of non-protected
PC Anywhere hosts, as well as control them.
However, changing the protection level from Nervous to Paranoid is a
different story. At Paranoid protection level, your PC Anywhere remote
controller will not be able to determine the status of any PC
Anywhere host. Because of this, you will not be able to initiate any
remote control session via the user interface.
