I can't synchronize my PDA after installing the product.
This article applies to: BlackICE Defender.
SUMMARY
If after installing our product, you find that you cannot
synchronize your PDA against your computer, then try stopping the
engine.
DETAILS
If for any reason, you can no longer synchronize data using your PDA
after installing the product, you can stop the program
by doing the following:
For Win 95/98:
- Before you do your synchronization work, stop the underlying
intrusion-detection engine. To do this, open a
DOS window. Change to the installation
directory -- normally at c:\program files\network ice\blackice.
Once at that directory, enter the following command:
blackd stop
This will stop the underlying intrusion detection engine.
- Now connect with your PDA and synchronize.
- When done, enter the following command in the same DOS window
to get the intrusion detection engine running again:
blackd start
For Win NT 4:
- Open the Windows NT service list.
- Highlight the "blackice" service and STOP
- Now connect with your PDA and synchronize.
- When done, you can get the program to run again by going to the service list,
highlighting "blackice" and clicking START.
