After installing the program, my computer can no longer see my domain controller.
This article applies to: BlackICE Defender.
SUMMARY
The default firewall rules will prevent your computer, that is part of a domain,
from detecting your domain controller. You'll have to check the protection option
"Allow Internet File Sharing".
DETAILS
If you install the program and all of a sudden your computer can no longer see the
primary domain controller, then you will need to do the following:
- Open the user interface
- Click the shield icon at the top left corner of the window
- Select "Configure BlackICE" from the menu that drops down
- At the Configuration dialog box, click the Protection tab
- In the Protection tab, check the option "Allow Internet File Sharing".
- Click OK
- If you are running Windows 95/98, then restart your system after this.
- If you are running Windows NT, simply logout and then login.
Note that checking this option does nothing to Window's print and file sharing
setup. By checking that option, you are telling the program to open the
following ports regardless of your protection level:
- TCP port 139
- UDP port 138
- UDP port 137
