Transport Mappings

advICE :Reference :Networking :SNMP : Transport Mappings
Whereas the default encapsulation for SNMP is over UDP, other encapsulations are supported.
  • RFC1089 -Encapsulates SNMP directly within Ethernet with no IP or UDP, using an ethertype of 0x814C (rather than the etherype 0x0800 used for IP itself).
  • RFC1161 -Encapsulates SNMP inside an OSI CLNP (Connectionless Network Protocol) packet. This was never really implemented, as OSI typically used CMIP instead.
  • RFC1418 -Encapsulates SNMP inside an OSI CLNP (Connectionless Network Protocol) packet. This was never really implemented, as OSI typically used CMIP instead.
  • RFC1419
  • RFC1420
