Emmeline Pankhurst was an important woman that for the first timi fought for the vote for women.In fact in 1903 she founded WSPU (women's social and political union).Emmeline and her followers were called suffragettes because the meaning of the word suffrage is " the righ to vote".During this period Many women started to use violence to obtain this righ to vote, this women were imprisoined.This woman's actions stopped in 1914 with the beginning of the First World War.During the War women did men's job and for this reason at the end of the war,in 1928 , all married women with home and were more than 30 years old, obtained the vote.
